This new work is a treatise or an atlas rather than a complete textbook. It examines the correlations between morphologic specimens and echocardiograms, from normal through major congenital heart disease. It is designed particularly for viewing on a smartphone, a tablet or a computer with movie capabilities, as long as the viewer has an internet connection. Once a particular chapter is downloaded it may be accessed repeatedly using a specific, personal download code. The images include both excellent morphologic specimens as well as excellent two dimensional echocardiograms.

Where no pathological example was available, a surrogate using a different radiologic technique was used. Because cross-sectional imaging by echocardiography is best appreciated in real time, we selected the medium of video–images to display the comparisons. The first nine chapters have been published on www.MD1World.com. The rest of the chapters will be presented serially every few months, depending on the speed of acquisition and the quality and availability of the comparisons.
